Introduction

On the first of June 2007, I began my placement in the University of Ulster Jordanstown campus, working for the Web and New Media Department.

My Placement thus far has been mostly PHP based. I have had the opportunity to work on Database Driven Web applications for the University’s Internal Systems. At first this involved working closely with other people under close supervision. But as my placement has continued, I have been trusted more to work on my own, programming systems by myself. There has also been some work involving HTML and CSS only for both the University and the British Computer Society through a conference that was held here at the University. As well as this throughout my placement I have dealt with queries from the online mailbox and uploaded pictures to the University’s business card database system.
